• What do I need to get started?
You’ll need a computer and printer, access to a fax machine, business cards (we have designed a card that you can order for $40/500 cards). We will provide you with a comprehensive, printable, online manual that includes all forms, marketing and ordering materials, sales procedures, and company policies.
  • Is this a salaried or hourly position? Benefits?
This is a commission based opportunity. There are no benefits. You are responsible for filing and paying your own self-employment and income taxes. You will receive a Schedule 1099 to assist in filing your federal and state taxes.
  • How much can I make?
If you work diligently and full-time with this opportunity, you will make a minimum of $40,000 - $50,000 in your first year (part-time $15,000 - $25,000). More skilled or dedicated representatives might make as much as $75,000. A great deal of the financial reward depends on your ambition and your passion.
  • How will I get paid and how often?
Pay checks are generated and mailed on the 1st and 15th of every month. Any orders that are completed and fulfilled one week prior to a pay date will be included in that pay period.
  • What training is provided?
Our program is simple enough that we have assembled, in our document library, virtually every bit of information to support you in your self-study efforts. There is also a series of recorded webinars designed to educate, inform and assist prospective agents with all sales and administrative issues. Lastly, as you come up to a comfortable level of confidence and feel prepared to serve that first senior, you will call Management for a final tutorial to review Program, Product and Procedure; we must make sure, with this Medicare program, that we cross all t’s and dot all i’s along with addressing some product nuances. Management will be available for individual guidance at any time via telephone or email.
  • Are there assigned territories?
No. The market is so huge that we don’t anticipate representatives colliding with each other.
  • Are there cold call and reporting requirements?
No, in fact, Medicare compliance standards specifically prohibit direct cold calling. However, your activity is your responsibility. If you get out and talk to people, you will be successful. If you sit at home and watch Jerry Springer, you will not be successful. It’s entirely up to you.
  • What if I introduce another agent, is there a bonus program?
You will receive a 10% bonus for a period of one year on any fulfilled Class A product business generated by representatives you bring to the company.
  • Will Health Care Reform legislation impact this business opportunity?
Durable Medical Equipment (DME) accounts for less than 4% of Medicare’s overall budget. The products we provide alleviate the pain and discomfort of arthritis often reducing the need for the senior to seek additional medical treatment. They are both preventative and recuperative in nature and represent a long-term cost savings to Medicare. Any reform to Medicare will have minimal impact on the DME industry.
  • How do you overcome the fact that so many scam artists are preying on seniors and defrauding Medicare?
There have been a number of highly publicized incidents that have shown the federal government just how easy it has been to defraud Medicare. This past summer, vigorous investigation and accreditation programs were instituted to combat this problem. Dozens of illegal operations have been thwarted and criminal prosecutions are at an all-time high.

Stricter enforcement and better government oversight will continue to make it more difficult for these fraudulent operators to exist.

Five Star Senior Services contracts with an accredited, experienced DME provider and works diligently to follow all regulations established by Medicare. Our goal is to serve the senior with passion, respect, and honesty.
  • Do these products actually work?

Yes, our products have been clinically proven to be effective in relieving the pain and discomfort associated with arthritis. Anecdotal evidence also tells us that most of our Seniors receive significant benefit from using Thermoskin and Aspen bracing equipment. That relief may be actual, physical relief or it might be psychological in nature. Like any device or medication, these products provide different levels of relief and comfort for different people. Additionally, they are intended to prevent further damage to the joints and back alleviating the need for more expensive and radical treatment in the future. If the products were not functional and effective, they would not have been accredited by Medicare.
  • This sounds too good to be true. What is “the catch”?
The catch is that you will sometimes need to walk the senior through the process of getting the order approved. This may require you to contact the physician for approval or prescription. You may have to enlist the help of a son or daughter to advocate for or even sign the order for the senior.

Once the paperwork and physician’s approval are received, our provider/supplier will verify Medicare eligibility for review. Please be aware that any discrepancies or errors in the paperwork will result in a rejection/denial by Medicare and will need to be corrected.

Upon eligibility verification by Medicare, the product is ordered and delivered to the agent for delivery to the senior. The senior signs a receipt/proof of delivery which is returned to our supplier and subsequently submitted to Medicare for payment.

The process can take as long as 30-45 days if there are no errors.

Remember: Passion, Patience, Professionalism, and Persistence.
  • How soon can I get started?
You can start as soon as you’ve received the documentation required to submit orders and signed/faxed Five Star’s agent agreement form.
  • Are sales leads provided to agents?
No. Ours is a non-leads based business. Because seniors are everywhere, it is a matter of identifying those locations where seniors gather. There is a list of suggested places in the document library of the website where Management has experienced good and efficient results gaining access to the seniors in need. You are really only limited by your own imagination in sharing our program.
